We are extremely disappointed in the Supreme Court decision that was released on Friday that effectively overturns Roe vs. Wade which had provided constitutionally protected access to women’s reproductive health rights for almost 50 years. This is not how health care should work. Since our founding back in 1974, we have been committed to ensuring women and all our patients are cared for with dignity and respect and empowered to make their own healthcare decisions.
Charles River Community Health upholds women’s reproductive health rights and will continue to offer our patients the reproductive services and access to health information they need to make the health care choices that are best for them. We will continue to counsel patients who want an abortion about where they can obtain one. And we will continue to offer a full range of contraception as well as information, guidance and support so that important decisions around family planning are in the hands of patients and they can decide what is best for them.
The Supreme Court ruling should serve as a call to action for all of us. We encourage everyone to engage with local and national organizations that are fighting to protect rights and expand access to care for everyone. Access to health care and women’s reproductive rights are human rights and it is up to us to make sure those rights are available for us today and future generations tomorrow.
