Charles River Community Health congratulates Katherine Clark, the Representative of the Fifth Congressional District of Massachusetts on her recent election as the Democratic Whip, the second ranking member in House leadership and the second woman to hold this position in our nation’s history. In fall 2020, she was elected by her colleagues to serve as Assistant Speaker of the 117th Congress after serving as the Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus during the previous session. Clark was first elected to Congress in a special election in December, 2013.
Representative Clark has been a leader on important issues like access to child care, reproductive rights, access to affordable health care and education. Representative Clark has been a tireless advocate for Community Health Centers and has been a strong supporter for Charles River Community Health during her time in Congress. Much of our Waltham community resides in the district represented by Clark. Earlier this summer, Representative Clark joined CRCH CEO Liz Browne, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, and Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy along with AARP advocates, patients, and community providers for a roundtable discussion at the Waltham Senior Center on the Inflation Reduction Act.
