CRCH is participating as a monitoring site for A Better City’s extreme heat temperature mapping project. A sensor was installed earlier this month on one of the trees along the center walkway in the parking lot of our Brighton location. Our location is a “hotspot” on Boston’s heat maps with additional social vulnerabilities in the local community. An interactive map of their sensor locations can be found here, where you will see that each target neighborhood has a red or “hotter” sensor location and a blue or “cooler” sensor location. Our site will serve as the “hotspot” sensor for Allston-Brighton, which will be compared with Boston Green Academy and other locations around the city. A Better City represents a multi-sector group of nearly 130 business leaders united around a common goal: to enhance the Greater Boston region’s economic health, competitiveness, equitable growth, sustainability, and quality of life for all communities.
