CRCH Receives Grant to Help Advance Health Equity

Earlier this month, during National Health Center Week, the Department of Health and Human Services through HRSA, awarded nearly $90 million in American Rescue Plan funding to nearly 1,400 community health centers across the country to advance health equity through better data collection and reporting. On Friday, August 5, President Biden issued a proclamation on National Health Center Week to recognize the vital role health centers play in safeguarding the well-being of Americans and honor the heroic staff who keep these facilities running.

Charles River Community Health will receive a grant of $65,500 as part of the award program, one of 36 community health centers in Massachusetts which received funding.  CRCH will use the funds to help support the launch and implementation of our new EPIC electronic health records system which will be introduced later this fall. “This grant will be extremely important to us as we transition to a new, state-of-the-art electronic health records system which will provide more tools and information for our providers and better, integrated care for our patients,” said CRCH CEO Liz Browne.  “We’d like to thank the Biden-Harris Administration for recognizing the important work of community health centers and prioritizing these critical resources for us.”

The Biden-Harris Administration has been committed to ensuring an equitable pandemic response and recovery, and these awards will help strengthen efforts to eliminate inequities in COVID-19 care and outcomes within communities of color and other underserved populations. The nearly $90 million in funding announced this month also builds on the $7.6 billion invested from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan to strengthen the health center workforce, renovate facilities, and equip them with essential COVID-19 medical supplies over the past year.
